It was confirmed by Hockey Canada today that Sidney Crosby has turned down an invitation to play for Canada at the World Hockey Championships. Crosby’s agent said that Sidney wants to take the next four months to train and workout to prepare for next season. Which considering his concussion issues and other injuries from this season as well, makes complete sense. Also with the Blackhawks being eliminated in the first round, the loss of Crosby for Team Canada may not be as big a blow as it could have been, especially if Jonathan Toews accepts the invitation that has undoubtedly been extended. Regardless though Sidney Crosby will not be part of the team so we will see who will round out the roster, though Kevin Lowe and Steve Yzerman will likely wait until the remaining games of the first round are finished to make some of the choices.
